Is the JD4200 too heavy to do finishing mowing? After doing some shopping, I cut my choices down to the JD4200 and B2400 or maybe B2710( haven't seen or proced one yet). I'll be finishing 5 acres and bush hogging 7 acres and doing some light loader work. I'm concerned that the JD4200 will be too much tractor and the B2400 won't be enough.

The 4200 is not too much for what you have. I suspect you might be disappointed with anything smaller and wish you had gone to the 4200. ....

For the things you're doing, either would be fine! The way I see it, I think the JD is underpowered for the amount of weight it has. Better off with the 4300 or the B2400. ....

Been thinking over same subject for quit a while myself,I have decided to wait just a while longer to see the B2710.Same power as deere 4200,but a LOT lighter,if most of your work is going to be mowing you don't need or want all that weight. The 2710 will take just as big a mower as 4200,either mid-mount or rear, plus from what I've seen of prices, you can own the Kubota for a little less money.I've looked the Deere over very closely, seems very bulkey for the engine it's got.Deere needs another model between the 4100 and 4200 with the 26 horses and other options the 4200/4300 offers. Just my opinion. ....

Remember folks the new B2710 weighs in at 1700 lbs without rims and tires. You can add about 400 to 500 pounds for the tires as I'm told. This could bring the weight up quite a bit. So the Deere isn't that much heavier. Think about it! And when the hell are we going to see them. Kubota really screwed up on this delivery date. They are cutting their own throats as far as I'm concerned. Just my opinion. ....
